• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

97 gt mods

i dont remember needing anything special, just some nice sockets and ratchets. air tools help a lot and maybe some big crow bars for the axles.

You will need a big breaker bar for the axle nuts if you don't have good enough air tools...and a little man powah

So can i have headers and a plog? Alot of ppl was making it sound like a PLOG was a different way to go other than headers?

No... plog = better front manifold but headers = much better.

Get headers, problem solved.

Lucky for me headers are on the way this week. Alot of ppl that ive talked to about gps never mentioned a plog. Always heard hearders an such. I guess i c y now. So headers would be bettter for performance than a PLOG?

not for you since you have no boost and you have stock heads and a stock cam so you'll just lose low end and possibly mid-range torque.

headers are a supporting mod, not really a performance adding mod.

They give you more flow.

Once you have more flow capabiltiy, you need to get more air in the engine. So you need mods that get more air in the engine with headers for it to be worth it.

Namely, HV3 + ER rockers or HV3 + cam and even heads if you wanted to.

OR, top swap.

Damn thats some bs. The guy didnt tell me that. What i was trying to do was add all the little mods to my car now an when i save up the money for a l67 motor swap (the guy said he could do 1 for around 2200) an just crossover all the parts to that but in the meantime have fun with the GT. Didnt know they would make it even worser. I would put in the HV3 but i couldn swap it into the l67. Would seem like a waste of money later on down the road. It Seems pretty easy to install an make some good hp in the process. Pretty good info ppl....

Want to keep parts for the L67? Get a cam...namely a GT2 cam, or if you don't feel like doing that...run 1.95 Roller Rockers...those can be transferred over to L67 heads, along with the cam. There are quite a few people running a GT2 cam with a top swap making pretty good power. You can always put headers on your car, but they won't give you hardly any power gain...until like 4500rpm's...till you shift around 5800-6000...so by the time you hit your power band...a GT with a Downpipe and/or PLOG will beat ya, since it is retaining the low end torque from the manifold style exhaust.

So is there any part i could install to increase or keep my low-end torque even if i put the headers on that i could benefit from? I was thinkin about cammin it i know this guy sellin a S1X cam i think? Dont know if its good quality or not tho an if its a blower cam or NA cam. I heard blower cams have a longer duration than a N/A cam...
