While I am driving down the road my 97 grand prix (3.8 not supercharged) dies. Then i coast tilli stop. Then have to work the key until i hear the fuel pump kick on then it starts up fine. When it is hot out it does it much more than when its cool. and faster. It took me an hour and a half to go 5 miles because it was 90 degrees outside then i finally walked the last three or four blocks home. when it cooled down in the eve i went and worked the key about a minute. the fuel pump kicked on and it started and i drove it home. Its getting plenty of fuel. any idea??????????

It doesnt spit or sputter backfire or hesitate and doesnt have to be cranked. Its actually been doing it a couple months but getting alot worse now and everyone i talk to says they have never heard of it before. it is ten times worse when its extremely hot.

I would still shotgun a crank sensor in it. They are known to cause random stalling, and can cause the car not to start for a bit after it happens.

But it could still be something else.

Not really if you have some tools.

Search "crank sensor replacement" on here, the man you wrote it is Billboost, it goes step by step on how to do it.

Search bar is hidden in the black up top.
