97 grand prix camshaft position sensor problems

I recently changed out the camshaft position sensor and now I'm having random misfires and the check engine light starts flashing. I'm wondering if I have to relearn the camshaft position sensor in order to get rid of the random misfires :th_scratchhead:. Basically, this is the last thing I need to do to my grand prix (engine wise) to start driving it! I really hope I don't have to take it into a shop or buy something to relearn the sensor. So, if anyone has changed yours out and ran into this problem or has any idea on how to fix this, please let me know. Thanks!
 


I changed mine in my 04 GTP and put the harmonic balancer on without knowing it had a keyway and my car wouldn't even start. If it's off at all that could be your problem.
 
I was in a hurry when I put my harmonic balancer back on and the key way wasn't lined up with the key and it was just barely start and stumbling and die. Pull it back off the next day and noticed it and put it back on the right way and I fired right up. But this doesn't sound like the same problem you're having but if it's offset at all it may cause that problem. Another thing I bought my sensor from the junkyard and did not need to relearn apparently it relearns itself.
