97-03 Cabin air filter

Guys,

I'm astonished that the only cabin air filter I could find was from Pronto PC5245. 97-04 Regal got the air filter. I assumed that GP, Impala and Monte had them as well.

Rockauto's showing that it cross references to the 97-04 Regal etc. I'm betting it fits and because it's not required, that you silly GP owners could have far less boogers by adding one. Heck Purolator even makes one with baking soda in it to help reduce smells and things of that nature.

Anyone tried tossing a cabin filter in?
 


GM didn't put them in a bunch of model years because of where they are located at the head of the air intake, they get wet easily and then restrict airflow. Personally I have never bothered to put one in on my 2001 GTP, air seems fine to me :)
 
They don't get wet because of where they are. They get wet because of the bad weatherstrip. Which is why you gotta upgrade to teh piece of plastic that's recently arrived.

GM #15794785 - Deflector - $3.39
GM #15284938 - Cabin Filter - $30.06 (Regal Cabin Filter, but it works the same)

So $35 for a dumb filter, because the filter without the updated deflector would get wet and clogged. ;)

It does help. It helps a lot. I have bad allergies in the summer and rely on the AC to help keep them under control. But without the filter the AC doesn't do squat for my allergies. In my mind, $25 was more than worth it to be able to ride in comfort in my car in the summer. Doesn't seem worthless to me.
 
thats good to know, and when i have my own income ill get one, but i rather spend the money on things that keep the car on the road, whether its comfy or not it moves
 
This is on my to do list lol. I have to do the weather stripping and add that rain tray for mine as well. Been raining quite a bit and its gotten wet on the floor a few times. Not fun.
 


Not sure where you guys are getting your cabin filters but you can get one for like 12 bucks at Oreillys or Autozone. I replace it once a year or so. You'd be surprised how much dirt it gets in just a year

The # I listed is the ACDelco Filter at the price from the GM Dealership I work at. That is why it is more, the aftermarkets are usually cheaper ;)
 
Purolator super fresh deluxe filter c25245 $12.99 before online discount, of $-4.06. Looks like a little over 8 buckeroos for the smart people

I got a Fram Fresh Breeze (or whatever they are) at Meijer for like $12 and a $3 mail-in rebate and threw it in......Went to the dealership and bought the rain guard deflector for like $1.82.....
