i dunno much about this car, its a 96 gp se 4t60e 4 spd. the car came and the trans will not go in reverse or drive, under high engine rpm u feel it trying. if you wait til the car warms up it will work, i took it down the road when it first came at it drove fine, tcc worked good. today i found a vacuum leak on the vacuum module line, repaired it and it changed nothing. my feeling is the pump is going out or weak? any ideas?

I've heard of this issue before, don't know what causes it. Buddy found that letting it warm up for a minute or two was the key to getting it moving. Overall the trans isn't happy and probably needs to be rebuilt.

If the fluid is full and the filter is installed correctly it sounds like the input clutch seal is bad/hard/rolled

My 97 GT does the same thing. Running the shifter through the gears and letting it sit in '1' for a short time will usually get it to catch. Once it catches in '1', all the gears work. Revving doesn't seem to help. I drive in '3' until it warms up because it has a delayed downshift into 1st when I stop and will sometimes slip when starting from a stop or turning a corner slowly. Once it's warm, it's fine.

I changed my fluid and added some Lucas, but it didn't help. Later, I took the return line loose at the tranny and let it run for a few seconds at a time to drain some fluid. Added a whole bottle of Lucas and it seems to have helped a little. I'm tired of spending money on this car, so I'm going to drive it 'til it gets unbearable, than I'll go back to 'old faithful', my 78 El Camino with a stone age, reliable TH350.
