Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

'95 GTP Build

Hey everyone. Just joining up and saying hello. I'll dig through all the posts for all the detailed questions I'm sure I'm going to have. But I'll go ahead and post what I'm up to and if anyone wants to point me in any right directions it'd sure be appreciated.

Bought a '95 GTP last year; completely stock with 126K original miles. Thought it was going to make a great 3rd car to knock around in, but ended up throwing a rod about 2 months after I bought it (I know... quit gettin' in it so much!). Anyway, if I'm gonna have to do an engine swap, I really want to upgrade to the supercharged 3800 series and maybe do a little modding before dropping it in. Fact is, though, this is my first Gran Prix and I don't know jack about them except they look some kind of sweet. So, for starters, is it even (somewhat easily) possible to drop a 3800 Series II or III in the '95? And, if so, what kind of trouble am I in for?

Thanks! Look forward to browsing the forums and getting to know some folks. Also, hope to keep the community updated on the build.

Those all had 60 degree V6's in them so I'm guessing it would be a big job since nothing will be the same.

Definitely do some searching. yes it possible, there are several out there. I won't say its extremely hard, but it's not easy either. quite a bit of wiring involved, splicing harnesses, etc. This forum is a fantastic one, with alot of knowledgeable people, but there are other 3800 related forums out there as well, with alot of information.

for instance, these pictures show what's possible, yes..that's an 86 lesabre. - not my car.

Some great places to start. Thanks a ton. If this turns into too much to move up to a blower, then I may go back with same year & motor and see what more I can get out of that. It was a heck of a lot of fun to drive just stock. But something about folks like us... you can't just leave well enough alone. LOL

Thanks for the welcoming comments and pointers.

You would probably have better luck finding a L67 than a LQ1.
