1997 Grand Prix GTP,

Put a transgo shift kit in just now, started to drive, car shuddered going into reverse, would not shift out of second while driving, just now parked it and now don't have anything, no reverse or forward. Key will not come out of steering column either.

What has happened? Any ideas?

Did you check the fluid level after you put it back together? It must be checked with the engine running and shifter in park range. The car needs to be warmed up also and since you had the accumulator body apart you should at least cycle the shifter through all the ranges but since you have driven it fluid should have gone where it needed to go and may be very low. If you did not torque all of the bolts down you could have a big pressure leak causing your problems. Also if you took the metal pipes off and got them mixed up it can cause some odd problems! The Transgo instructions show the proper order they go back in.

As far as your key not wanting to come out that shouldnt have anything at all to do with installing a shift kit. There is an emergency shift interlock release button next to the shifter if your shifter handle is stuck and there is also a small cover the pops off on the bottom side of where your ignition key goes in and once you pop the cover off you can take something like a screwdriver and push up on a button and that will allow you to turn your key back all the way. If you search on here you should find a few threads about the cause and fix for the key getting stuck.

OK, went back in and pulled the shift kit out, put the original springs back in, car now goes in reverse and forward, don't have 3rd or 4th gears. It is throwing code P0756. Time for a new tranny?

I put the recommended 7.5 quarts of fluid in when changing shift kit.

The key is still stuck, I did disconnect the battery to reset the computer. I will check the steering column this weekend, see about removing the solenoid.

Thanks.

Did you have 3rd and 4th prior to the shift kit install? If you had a bit leak around the gasket area or damaged an accumulator seal/oring it can cause 3rd fluid to bleed off and burn up 3rd clutches in a short matter of time.
