91 grand prix 3.1L

Hello all, got a tranny question for ya. I have a 91 grand prix with a 3.1L engine. I assume I have the 4t60 trans, but my questions are the tranny goes into gear fwd, rev, low 2,1 but the car will not move. Feels like something is locked up. Jacked the car up and spun tires by hand. Then put car through gears and no movement of tires. Anyone heard or have any ideas of the problem and fix?? Did notice cooling lines to radiator slightly leaking. My son put fluid in, and level is fine. I just hope he put the right fluid in considering it's hard to find dexron 2 or 3 anywhere. Any ideas or help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Ok guys, I'll re-phrase and hopefully someone will chime in to help me in the right direction. Lol. Could this be the transaxle or a bad cv shaft? I'm having a problem with pinpointing the problem and how do I check for a bad cv shaft?? As I stated before the car goes into gear but will not move. I can spin both wheels while car is on jackstands. Thought at first the tranny was gone but now I'm thinking maybe a bad cv shaft. Really need some direction here!!

either the cable is popped off or the transmission is bad. If you can spin the wheels they should go in opposite directions if you spin one wheel to the left the other should be going to the right. If that's good then no way it's a CV. More than likely the trans is toast.

With the car up on jack stands, manually shift it into a gear and see if movement occurs. If they move after manually shifting on transmission its a cable issue. If no movement at all when manually shifting, it's a transmission issue.

Thanks for the responses, yes I also had the car on jackstands and shifted into gear with no movement of the wheels, even checked the manual shift shaft selector from the tranny and it was shifting into gear. I was guessing the tranny but no time or moola to change it. I hate to part with the car seeing my son and I just put all new gaskets on the motor from the heads up. It only has a 146k on it for a 91' but oh well. Thanks again guys for the responses.
