i know it wont hurt to drive every now and then with a little bit of 87 in tank. staying out boost of course. im gonna be taking a 1600 mile round trip to from SC to CT. driving that far would it be cool to run 87 for a trip that long? will it affect reading in PCM and make car run silly? etc etc. ill be at 80mph with cruise set for all of trip.... just tryin to save money.

Run 91-93 I got 29.8 mpg with my grand Prix on the way to Florida. and you know you will get on it a couple times on the trip passing people and merging.

consider this.................. higher octane lets you run more timing.......... more timing = more power AND better fuel economy. so hope your crusing timing advance tables are aggressive and enjoy the better fuel economy as well as being able to hammer it and watch your engine make it out alive

i have stock pulley and stock tune at the moment and have flow mods with 605's.. even still? savin 20-25 cents a gallon would be sweet...

ew wtf?!@#!@#$ put the pulley and your reptile PCM back in. you should get better fuel economy with it than on the stock.

Only way to know is try 2-3 points lower octane than what you normally run and see if it knocks.

then keep going down and seeing where it starts to knock and run the lowest octane you can get away with knock free.

fuk it, not worth it .... i did the math... id only save around 17 bucks anyways. i thought it would shave off alot more than that.

used 93 the whole trip..... averaged 24.2 MPG for 1600 miles. speeds between 80-90mph... with average speed 85mph. with a few WOT pulls up to 100ish playing with other cars. not bad if ya ask me. anyone ever hear blower whine at 100mph in a tunnel with all windows down.... fukcin awesome :)

...radar detectors...?? I averaged 90MPH from Colorado to Alabama and got about 24 MPG.... no radar detector here, 2000 miles, and pulled over in Texas for doing 3 MPH over.... c'mon!..3 over?! I even got a written warning!

Then speeding tickets mean almost nothing haha.

If you're under 25, speeding tickets really do much more hurt than the cost of the ticket.

well, the other nice thing is that if I get a ticket outside of Colorado, then Colorado doesn't want to know about it, therefore, neither does the insurance company...unless I tell them. :D

I haven't had one in many many years either.
