Yeah, them LS1 PCMs are like $700 with a tune and wiring harness designed for hot rodding.
MS3 Pro is another option to consider. The rest, meh. They don't even have injector data maps, and sell you 80s style injectors. Technology is moving, please keep up.

It's nice to see these old birds get new chance of life. I'm ass deep in my 98 TA, Blew the LS1 up 2 yrs ago and been doing a front to rear drive train build up. It should have been running last summer but had a material failure in the newly built engine so I'm securing new parts for the new build. Once this one is done I want to get a 2nd Gen TA and do a build on it.
Kinda skimmed through I didn't see what engine you decided on.

Its getting a 383 stroker with 69mm turbo built 700r4 3.73 gear rear end with stage 2 posi. My father in laws building a 67 firebird. Hes giving me his 74 firebird it needs a lot work and he is still working on a 74 vett when I'm done with my 85 ill start on the 74 its going to get a 383 stroker I already have parts for both motors I'm looking for a 96 ws6 firebird right now I want to find one and when I'm done with the 85, 74 ill turn it into a track car. Post some pics ur car here.

Currently she's blown apart. Even this is a old pic, the hood is off, I have a WSQ Hood from VFN sitting in a box waiting til engine is fixed to be put on.

6.0L Block - Forged 403 build in progress
, Polluter Stg3 Cam, FAST 102mm Intake, NW102 TB, MSD wires, NGK TR55 plugs, CC Pacesetter LT Headers, TS&P ORY, QTP e-Cutout, Magnaflow Muffler, SLP Air Lid & Line Lock, Catch Can, Stage 2 T56, PRO 5.0 Shifter, Tick MC, Monster Stg 4 Clutch, QT SFI BH, UMI DSL, SFC, PHB, LCA's, LCA Relocation Brackets, TA, Hotchkis Springs (1" Drop), YR1 Snowflake Wheels wrapped in NT555 tires & Custom Fab Ford 8.8 rear w/4.10 Yukon Gears, WSQ Hood.
Just a little bit of work on her.
