Hi there Im new to the forum. Im loooking for some help. Im looking at buying an 1984 grand prix brougham with a 350ci and 350 turbo trans. The problems with it is that the owner was trying to change the brakes and snapped 2 of the bolts. Now he says that the rear end has to get taken apart for the problem to be fixed. Has anyone ever had this happen? Is it a hard job? Im not sure what rear end it has in it Ill have to ask. Any help would be appreciated.

i would think depending on the bolts that broke you could drill them out and retap maybe hard to tell with out seeing what broke

yeah I dont understand why the rear end would have top be torn apart because of a couple broken bolts for the rear brakes. I dont think it makes sense

Sounds like a good opportunity for someone who is "wrench friendly" to take this "problem" off his hands for cheap! Rear drum brakes are pretty simple, not sure what bolts he broke off, but repair should be inexpensive. Good luck and post some pics of that sucker when you get her home. Those square body GP's are some nice cars. :th_thumbsup-wink:
