6x9's not working?

I recently replaced all speakers in my 97 GP. The 6x9's didn't work before and they still aren't working. The speakers work fine, just not with the wiring they're supposed to be hooked up to. I don't have an aftermarket stereo. Could this just be a wiring issue, or..?
 


Does it have the 8 speaker sound system? The amp under the dash may have gone caput. Just run new wires to the 6x9s from behind the deck.
