• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

6x9s and door speakers

I think ill go that route what door speakers should I go with what size doesnt require any modifying also what amp would you recommend running for the door speakers and 6x9s thank you

I'm not sure if 6.5 inch speakers will fit in a Grand Prix. Unfortunately I know Bonneville's better. But anyways, this amp is what is powering my set up. I installed it myself in May. Hasn't given me any problems. Solid little thing.
Hitron HPA400.4 (hpa4004) 400W Max, Pro Series 4-Channel

However, if you want to keep your stock head unit you would need a Line Output converter to give the amp signal. That's how I have mine set up as well.

The Kickers don't have as good power handling as the Pioneers. I would still go with the Pioneers. As for door speakers, take these into consideration as well.
Pioneer TS-A1304C (TSA1304C) 5.25" 2-Way Component Speaker System
Being components they will sound better than the 3-ways. That's what I would do.
I'm kinda a Pioneer/Polk Audio junky. I'll let others chime in about Kickers. I don't have much experience with the brand.

Combined with your head unit, the amp will be more than enough power for the door and deck speakers. I don't know if you're crazy about bass, but with that amp and those 6X9's I don't think you'll be wanting a sub too much. At least for a while.. Haha.

Wow thank you for all your help I appreciate it and yea I might hold off I have a audioque 12 2.5 that still needs to be boxed and I still need to find an amp for it but maybe I will wait till spring thanks again for all your input ill let you know how the install goes let me know if you know any good amps for the audioque 12 2.5

Hmm. I don't know much about subs. But I would try and find a good cheap 5 channel amp. My friend got a used Kenwood 5 channel for like $75. Works like a charm. That's what I wish I could have done, cause now I'm trying to get a sub into my setup for cheap. Browse around on Crutchfield and Sonicelectronix. Check out Diymobileaudio.com. Great car audio forums.

Alright once again thanks so much and should have the items shipped and installed within the next week ill keep you updated

I just put some alpine type s 6 1/2 speakers in my doors so they do fit in case your wondering. Just have to do a little tweaking.

wus the biggest size you can put in ya door speakers without any modifications? I swore 6.5" fitted perfically. I have a 00" Regal GS, so maybe the size is diff from a GTP. I thought they were the same actually...

I've had those 6X9's. They are damn good. But personally, I like these better.. The bass is less muddy when cranked and they sparkle.
Pioneer TS-A6994R (TSA6994R) 6" x 9" 600W 3-Way Car Speakers

As for door speakers. Polk makes good ones. The 6.5's I had in my door lasted for 10 months before I took them out, and they were amped and thrashed daily. Still work, just decided to upgrade to components instead.

i bought those 6x9s on cyber monday have em installed and love them!

as far as speaker size goes... i fit these 6.5 in my 05 door with absolutely no modding or anything..
Pioneer TS-A1674R (TS A1674R) 6-1/2" 3-Way A-Series Car Speakers

for the record i used this amp to power the rears and fronts
