A CAI will increase MPG. Any increase to efficiency increases MPG. If the energy to pull air into the engine decreases, as it does with a CAI, the energy used to pull air in turns to energy to drive the car forward. The only reasons a CAI would decrease MPG is 1: Because a PCM couldn't properly read the MAF due to a bad install or 2: The driver gets a heavy foot to enjoy the added power. The main purpose of a modern air box is to both house the air filter and quiet the intake noise.

X2......I got a knn and the least I get is 19.2 mpg in the city with a heavy foot and before the knn I got around 15.6 mpg.
 
are you comparing with the same ambient temps as well?

You do realize that you get worse fuel economy in the winter versus the summer right?

This is true but the reason has little to do with intake temperatures. The reason is time to temperature is much longer for a vehicle sitting in a colder climate. Modern cars are very good at keeping AF ratios at as close to 14.7 after they warm up. However, taking the time to get there the car does not regulate the AF ratio the same way. Also, during winter you're much more prone to let your car sit and warm up vs get in and drive during warmer months. All things aside for a NA motor that is tuned properly should do fine regardless of temperature as long as it is not extreme. I'd take cold over hot any day of the week. Now a boosted car? My old GTP made a significant amount of more power during dry cold nights.
 


So you mean to tell me that the flux capacitor is only connected to the muffler bearings while the blinker fluid is still engaged?
 


Hello! NOOB here. I just got an '05 GXP w/24k miles on it. I'm using 93 oct in her. All the damn gas here in NYC has the 10% ethanol crap in it. Well I'm looking to get a K&N CAI but I can't find one for an '05. All i see are for '06-'08. Will those fit an '05/any particular reason while it won't fit? I had an '06 Monte SS. I'm curious if i could just buy the same one and out it in. Thanks for your thoughts/help!
 
Anything that is for a GXP GP will fit any year LS4 powered car. As in the K&N Intake system will fit the MCSS, Imp SS, and GP GXP...which will be '05+ for the GXP and '06+ for the Chevy's.
 
I usually use 93 in my 2007 GXP. Its gotta a turbo in it and i found the 100 octane gas. I'm going to try that and see how she does.
 


Same i allways put 91 its not much of a different in price and it better fuel, plus my gxp has turbo so she needs it shell 91 or any brand 94
