4th Brake Light (Under Decklid)

im not worried about the wires, im kinda anal about lots of wires everywhere so i would make it as clean as i possibly can and the wiring "invisible" and hidden. and yes i do have amber turn signals. otherwise i wouldnt even bother with them lol. no worries tho i understand exaclty where you are comming from and how 97+ are all just through the brake light instead of a whole seperate turn signal circuit such as on the pregens. i got he turn signal idea after seeing how the under fire(im pretty sure i got he brand name wrong) light bars under the tailgates of trucks started having the turn signals. im not sure if one of those would fit. depending how how everything prices out i may look into the truck lightbar and see if i could modify it to fit or somehting. there will deffinately be a write up when i do it

Yeah great plan. Sorry about the misunderstanding with the amber turn signals, my 02' has me all confused. Well like i said I just bought a plasmaglow Fire and Ice tailgate bars. Heres a picture of what im talking about

It is able to be cut on either side, so I am really hopin it will fit under the decklid. It will give me turn signal, brake, and reverse light functionality.

haha ya like i said dont worry about it its kinda interesting how thing s change over a few years haha

measure it up and then plan on a little extra room for when you close the trunk that it wont interfere with/ hit any of the leds

haha im def doing this, what brand was the LED strip u guys used?

I used a Fire and Ice Bar a flexible 60 inch version. Its from plasmaglow. hold up before you going buying one though, I think its going to work but I havnt had a chance to install it. I think Ill be able to get to it this weekend and ill pt pictures and let you know what I think.

Thanks, the one that i've found in a local store is a 24" pilot automotive one, i no its good for exterior use, i was just wondering if anyone else used the same brand

I found one on eBay for like $2 and it was about as bright as the OP's. It didn't last very long and some of the SMD's pooped out. I then found one on eBay again for $4 with larger SMD's and it is just as bright as the $20 ones they have at AZ. At night its just as bright as any of the other brake lights and I love it. It's been several months now and everything is working great with it - I'm very pleased.

u gotta link for the ebay.... I bought 2 so far, one was 36" (too long) and the other half the leds stopped working, both of these were from hong kong. But thankfully only cost a total of $8.....

so what if you do hook it to the taillights themselves? will the whole thing flash when u use the turn signal? or only half of it? it would be cool if you could get each half to work for each side witht he turn signal

i just ordered 2 12" led strips, i"ve figured out how to make the turn signal idea work. i'll try and get pics posted when i can

Just got finished up with my installation and took some pictures. I love them and it wasnt hard at all to do. Let me know what you think or have any questions.
