Well I assume he means stock. No upgraded parts like input shaft or larger chain. As long as everything in the trans is good, no problems like a bad pcs, worn clutch packs with high mileage etc. stock should easily hold 300 HP at the crank, right? But after that you may need upgrades.

I'm not positive on this though. Could be 350
 
As you've noticed from the variations in comments these transmissions aren't the most durable or reliable when you start putting power down. Some of that has to do with how you abuse it and if you remove the factory safeties that are in place to try and keep the trans from having issues.

I had no problems killing a trans in short time (less than 10K miles) with just a few mods. Others can mod pretty heavily and their driving style affords them more time before grenading.
