4T65E: How long will it hold up?

Hey just a question for you guys? My car is basically stock but wont be for long.

Some guy comes along trying to tell me to not mod my GP and but a Buick GN. I could find a much better car to get but thats beside the point. My question us how long will my 4T65E last me before it goes boom. What do i need to do to keep it running safe? I dont know as much as i would like to about autotragic transmissions. So let me know guys, thanks!

Pan drop, new gasket, new filter, 7-8 quarts of new fluid, a shift kit, and a PCM tune.

No burnouts, no one wheel peels around corners, and no going WOT into 4th gear...which is like 120~mph IIRC...

At least until you get a built one.

Otherwise...I beat the snot out of my cars and they held up just fine ;)

I'd trade my car for a Grand National any day. Back on on topic, the life of the trans basically depends on the movement of your right foot. Treat it right and you'll be fine.

Unfortunately there's not a timer built in anywhere. Part of how long it lasts is luck, some people beat on modded cars with stock trans and have no problems, others have the trans go out at 100k in their DD.

Like has been said, no smoking the tires at every light, WOT to 4th, ripping around corners with the pedal at the floor, neutral drops, or anything else like that and you should do ok.
