3800 series II rwd swap

will the transmission from a mid 90's camaro with the 3800 series II rwd bolt up to the transmounted 3800?? we found an intact 3800 series II supercharged in the junk yard and a camaro with the 3800 series II. one of the teachers from my automotive program is looking into swapping one of these motors into an old smog exempt chevy truck. next weekend is 50% off at the junk yard and we can get both motor and trans for about 200 bucks. gonna be an awesome school project.
if not, what trans will work? thanks.

The trans will work... But you may run into issues with the superchargers inlet being too close to the firewall and have to cut/weld modify the blower there or the firewall, whichever is easier I guess. And the PCM will most likely have to be reprogrammed for a different gear ratio/manual whichever your using.

93 and 94 v6 trans won't work. 95 with a 3800 MIGHT work but there's 95 specific things on those trans so i'd get a 96+. Otherwise yes a 3800 out of a FWD car will bolt up to trans from a RWD 3800...might as well throw a 5 speed in while you're at it lol

And prob cuz N/A 3800 Camaros are slower than balls dsmuts

Other small things....you'll need the PCM out of the Camaro because it won't be able to control a 4l60E trans.
Motor mounts will obviosly be different.
Depending on the truck the blower might have to be modified.
Exhaust manifolds would have to be off the Camaro...or just get headers lol...prob some others...ill come back and edit..gotta run.

He said it also had a series 2 so its gotta be at least a 96 right?

I would say 98. Is it auto or std? My mothers 2000 camero 3800 auto has 3.05 gears. It's slow NA. But with a blower it should be ok.

Your knowledge is very much appreciated. The 5 speed will be favorable for this application, if so then we would be fine with the pcm from the fwd as long as we reprogram ? Didn't really think about exhaust manifolds though, so I'm assuming the rwd 3800 manifolds will bolt up to the l67? if so I wouldn't be surprised if headers were easy to find since there's a huge camaro community.

There were 3 different rwd 3800 series II's there, 1 stick and 2 autos, there was 1 stick and 2 autos one was a 94 one a 96 and the other the emission label was missing and I never bothered to check the door, I don't remember which one was which. Ill go back and figure it out.

Yes the camaro manifolds will bolt up to the L67...or a set of pacesetters seem to do a good job. As for that 94 it's no use to you. 94's motor options were a 3.4 or an LT1 therefore neither trans will work for you....if you got a 5 speed trans I think you'd be able to use the L67 PCM since it doesn't control the trans. A little trans rewiring is required but it's nothing major

Any other questions just ask
