so on the interstate from an 80-140 (138 speed limiter) run i was in second at around 5k.
3 honks we are off. he starts to slowly pull on me. at about 110 he has a car and a 1/2 and it holds there up until i hit my speed limiter at 138. lukcily he hit the brakes about the same time i hit my limiter. i pull up to him, give him the :th_thumbsup-wink: and head home. i have no clue if it was modified or not. it had the nismo spoiler but i didnt see any nismo decals.
 


how so? im curious why the tranny wouldnt be able to handle 138 when so many people have the speed limiter removed and run the car all the way up to 145+. i dont wanna destroy my tranny but i need more info.
 
4th gear isnt strong and is meant for cruising. with that much load put on it youre bound to wreak some havok on it. dont let your car shift into 4th when youre WOT.
 


If these numbers are accurate (not sure, didn't invest too too much time):

3.29 Final Drive Ratio
4th gear ratio:0.70
3rd gear ratio:1.00
Overall Tire Diameter: 27.1 in.
Engine Redline: 6000RPM ish...

This gives him approximately 147MPH top speed capability in 3rd (not counting speed limiter obviously). This would mean that he is in third gear up to the speed limiter kicks in.

What I am getting at is that I cannot easily think of a time when given WOT, the trans would be 4th. It would be in 3rd.

Provided quickly found said numbers are "reasonable".
 
just saying you shouldnt let the trans shift into fourth when youre WOT. when that happens youre already going too fast and the trans straight up doesnt like it, hardened 4th shaft or not.
 
Good 'ol VQ top end. Gotta love 'em.

Also...I test drove a '08 NISMO Z...it didn't have any decals on it...just had a crazy low aero kit from the factory and a wing. They were a little quicker than the non-NISMO Z's since they had exhaust/intake work from the factory...lighter wheels...better suspension all around. Low 13 second cars easy if you can drive.
