300zx?

How good are the 90's 300ZXs for modding? I mean are they expensive to do and what is their potential?

There's one near my house that doesn't seem to be driven and it looks pretty beaten up, but if they want to get rid of it for a few bucks I think it would make a good project car.

One of the concerns is how do you tune a non OBDII car? I think there are only chips available for those and well... that's not a custom tune.

potential is medium. if you get the TT version they can make good power, but it's not going to be cheap. they are a pretty wealthy platform.

End the expensive to mod idea an get rid of the engine and put some pushrod power in it. Thats the only 300zx Id want like Bio said their EXPENSIVE to mod otherwise.

the gand national wasn't for sale in Mexico =(

I've seen a couple of 300zx's where with chevy v8's in them. But i don't think i'd like to go that way. I would get a ls1 trans am instead.

Mainly I was planing on getting a N/A, camming it and putting cheap ebay turbos and big intercooler in there. probably get the manifolds done locally if not available or too expensive.

Basically the cheap route. Probably not the one that will deliver most power, but still fun. Really not planning on going broke with it.

I wouldn't buy one, the VG engines are ending up in junkyards for a reason. Somewhere around 150k miles something with the cam on the top half of the motor that fails. There is no real aftermarket solution IIRC.

Drop in a vq35 or vk45

Me and my buddy swapped the tt motor into a N/A body and ended up having bad rings and the motor had 98k on it it. they are awesome cars but doing that swap was a mistake. if you have a good dd i would go ls1 trans am or goat
