well, i love my car but i want something different. more specifically a rear wheel drive stick. so im trying to figure out what i want but in doing so i havent really found anything id sell my car over. id love a 4th gen trans am but i cant really afford the ones i want(post 1996 4th gens) not to mention the insurance would rape my a$$ for a 20 year old male with 4 tickets and an accident. ive been looking at 300zx's and i think i would be pretty happy with one. 222hp n/a, 300 TT. anybody have one or know someone who has one? how do you/they like it? also any other ideas on what would be a fun RWD coupe? i know alot of people on here like the fox body mustangs but i absolutely hate them and would never buy any mustang for that matter. but let me know what cars you guys(and girls) like or what you think would be fun to drive.

Umm I have driven many a 300zx, they can be quick cars but a 240sx is a much better platform to mess around with. The 300zx is a biotch to work on and if they break good luck to you my friend haha. I am sure you will find the right car but a 240sx is a much better platform to jump into.

300zx n/a's are uber slow but, fun as hell. I do in fact love the tt version, good luck finding one in good condition for cheap. I would go for a 240 then, RB2 swap ;)

i plan on buying it with what i get for my car. so im looking in the $6-7K range. since i only have 75K miles on the car i think thats what itll go for.

as far as the 240sx i really dont want one. im not big into nissan i just like the 300zx for whatever reason. plus all the ricers around here drive 240s so that kinda ruined them for me.

really? are they slower than a gp gt? i figured the weight advantage would give it a little more go. my friend has a 97 328is 2.8 I6 190hp 200tq and i cant keep up.

im not worried too much about how hard they are to work on i just want something thats a little faster than my car stock and ill go from there whenever i feel like it(or have the money).

My first car was an 87 300zx n/a and I miss it dearly. This time around I had to decide between a z32 (90-96 300zx) and the GTP. I chose the gtp cause I couldnt find a z32 in good enough shape for the money (you need to be very patient) and it was much more practical.

I love the interior of the z32's. It feels like you're in a cockpit. everything wraps around and caters to you and not to what was easiest to design. I know alot of people who've bought the z31's and feel as though they never need to buy another car again. I've had two loves in my life. One was a female and the other was a Z.

I'd agree that they are nice cars...the N/A ones are pretty slow though. But if you get a TT (I was gonna get one before I bought the GTP) make sure maintenance is done on them...cuz you'd have to pull the motor to change the damned spark plugs.

Not to be harsh but good luck getting 7 grand for your car. Even if it only has 75K on it...mine has 88K on it and is an '03 in PERFECT condition...and a dealer was only going to give me IIRC $4,900 or something...

240sx >>> 300zx

My brother has 3 240's and used to have a 300zx TT. 300zx TT was pretty badass, but the market for the 240's is like no other.

SR20, RB25, RB26, LSx swaps are all doable... RB26 being the hardest...

[QUOTENot to be harsh but good luck getting 7 grand for your car. Even if it only has 75K on it[/QUOTE]

to quote either barnum or bailey: "theres a sucker born every minute" i bet ill get at least 6. plus im not in any hurry so i can sit on it till it sells.

i understand theres a huge market for 240s but im just not into them at all. plus i want something thats faster than my car stock. i dont know i guess im just really picky when it comes to my cars.

... RB26 being the hardest...

Meh, idk about RB26DETT swaps being the hardest, but they are pretty badass...I've seen VG30DETT's in 240's...and yeah along with LS1's and LS7's...I would think that would be harder since the hardware is a completely different wiring setup vs. the Skyline who is still related to the 240 brand wise...

I don't blame you that is why it took me nearly 3 years to find the GTP I wanted:th_biggrin2:

You will beat a lot more than just a 300ZX with an LS swap into a 240.

X2...that thing would flat out rape. It's like a Lsx motor in a Datsun 280Z or a Porsche 944 :th_mischievious:

I have owned an 84 944 and crashed it :th_nanana: It was quite an amazing little car, but I wish it was turbo could have had a lot more fun in it :th_drooling:

god i would love a 944! especially with a LSx :th_drooling: a friend and i were talking about getting either an e30 or 944 project car. but then he lost his job and we both basically got kicked out of our houses so now all our money is gonna go to rent.:th_depressed:

so im looking for one dd that is at least moderately fast without having to do an engine swap. and im more into muscle cars than ricers. (thats an understatement)

1979 Mazda RX-7. That was going to be my RWD 5 speed sports car. I had one picked out even, but right now, it's a small cube somewhere, waiting to be turned into toaster ovens, or silverware, or something like that...
