3.4 pulley safety mods. this one's different.

I blew a gasket on my l67 then cracked a piston and scored the wall now I got a l26 block and im swapping over heads to make the l32. I heard the 4.2 pulley is comparable to a 3.8 on the l67. I want to run a 3.8 safely which would technically be a 3.4. I believe. Please don't smite me I'm slightly new to modding. Not a guru like some of you.
I HAVE SD HEADERS, Zzp pcm, colder plugs, 180tstat. That's it atm. People say intake but does that mean cold air or just a better cone?
Also have stage 2 zzp tranny with 2500 stall converter. So after $4k on the tranny I decided to keep the car lol. Please no comment on waste of money it's already done.
Would I be safe with what I have?
Car motor and tranny in garage about to be put together I just want to know if I'll have any issues with what I am doing. So far looks pretty straight forward. I will take all the advice I can.

Everyone is going to chime in making sure you have a way to scan for KR...so Aeroforce, Scangauge, Torque App, etc to make sure your KR is minimal with the pulley size that you have. I would recommend some 1.9 rockers and LS6 springs to help get a little more flow to let you run the 3.8 pulley...and possibly even a smaller pulley. There's lots more info in the link in my sig.

a top swapped engine needs to be tuned. rockers cant hurt. or a cam.

not busting your nuts, but as long as you seem to have some cash, put a ic on there, that will kill the KR and let you run a smaller pulley then a 3.8. still needs to be tuned with a ic.

uh oh........ Tyler's gonna freak!

yea scanning for KR is the first thing you need to do

Every boosted application should have an intercooler Then if you want to take it further and use e85, go rigt ahead. The intercooler will always be there ......

Intake doesn't matter.

4.2" pulley only exists on SSM90 kits; which blow.

L26 is a turd and can't hold any power.

Sorry about the ZZP canned PCM.

Sorry you also didn't go to Triple Edge for your transmission.

I suggest more research on your end. It helps tons.

With a stock pulley (3.8"), headers, and your other misc. business like thermo and plugs/wires should be fine.

The problem is getting a solid dialed in tune. Canned top swap tunes ain't gonna cut it. There are plenty of people in Wiscansen that can tune.

yayyyyy beat me to it lol. after owning the car i have now i really dont think i could handle a stock cam car lol. cams are a whole different animal. for the op id highly suggest at least rockers and yes an ic if you plan on running only regular gas.

dont make me tear up this guys thread because i 100% disagree with all of that nonsesne^^^ lol in fact i think what your saying is backwards........... everything needs e85 then ic if you really need it. hahaha

An intercooler is a set-it and forget-it permenant method of KR reduction. With no e85 readily avail in ALL areas , people without IC will use meth injection to compensate.
So I agree and disagree but mostly agree and slightly disagree ;)

IC pump.

Fuses.

Relay.

Vac leaks.

Clearance issues.

I like intercoolers, but man...E85 is just swap injectors, get a rewire on the pump, and tune it.

Then tune a spare PCM for pump gas, keep a different pulley with you...and if you can't find corn and you're in a die need...swap the pulley and PCM. Then you're on your way.

I keep a shoe box in the trunk with gas pcm 3.4 pulley longer belt and a fist full of tools to swap back to gas if need be. Literally takes 20 min to swap for even someone as smart as myself. HA. (Actual times may vary LMFAO!)

Lets be honest its soooooo simple even I can do it!

Thanks blue glad I didn't have to type all those issues out again for the 5977473769704736597947365879 time........

When I get it together, giving I can't get the ssic right away and with a basic zzp pcm tune would it be safe to drive at least for a day or two to get to a shop and scan for kr and find a tuner?

Yea but you better stay out of boost..

And forget the SSIC, go with a FSIC unless e85 is available

E85 is available in my area. I don't have a ton of cash but I could maybe pull together enough for an IC

Now your going to make me question you, if you can run e85 it would cost less to do that than run and intercooler.

My question to everyone that has e85 around them is why aren't they using it?

1.9 rockers headers gen5 3.2 e85 would make a nice daily driver. Ive mentioned this before and im pretty sure there are a few people here with that mod list too.

I'd have to look around for it my girl works at speedway and says they have e85 down the road. I'll have to check.
Btw would rockers help with my kr? Or should I go get an IC right away. I'm just trying to play safe
