3.4 DOHC Torque Curve

Anyone have information on Torque curve on these engines? I'm looking at changing gear ratios, i want to make sure I try to optimize torque/hp so I don't under gear (poor performance) or over Gear it(worse gas mileage)

How are you going to tune it for those changes?

A good guess would say your powerband is 2500-5000ish rpm an faills off before it shifts. You should just leave it.

i would agree with five finger death punch... if you want to mess with gears your better off getting a manual trans. which its not worth it unless you got some serious mods in the engine.

since this thread got bumped....these 3.4 dohc engines make good use of the upper powerband.
a guy on here had 3.69's? i think? and he absolutely loved them with this engine.

U get 3.69 by using a final drive from a 3100 v6 car with a 4t60e. And he also used a 245/45r17 tire and ended up with a ratio of 3.73. The guy I know that has done it is z34phoenix. He is on wbody forum a lot. I also have done the diff swap to 3.69 but my car isn't driving until the snow clears so I don't have any opinion on it

no actually when you install the 3100 final drive you end up with 3.73's using my 245/45-17 tires the final drive would be equivalent to 4.09

Just used a DHP power tuner and then remapped the shift points. Needed a special release of the dhp software. The latest release doesn't have the settings needed for the 96 z34
