ok guys, i've been on this board way before i joined, but i have a question. running a 3.5 pulley on a 98 gtp 214k miles, runs great. just now added headers(had plog and d/p)3" DP AND 2 .5 EXHAUST PIPE TILL the "y", ported s/c inlet and outlet, tb and homaid 4" fwi. also plugs t-stat.,f.p. rewire, lastly intense stage 1(?) pcm mailorder tune. i previosly(before headers) had 2* kr or so. if i swap pullies, i need to have pcm looked at, or should i just tell ti greatly increase timing(now 14*) and keep the 3.5? yeah me too. just wandering, thinking of going 3.3 and staying there.....advice??? happy thanksgiving guys!!!!!!!
 


a 3.3" and your already knocking 2*?

Get a custom tune and keep the 3.5"...to hell with smaller pulleys
 
well remember i had kr with old exhaust. now i got headers and all, runs great. i will check my scanner tonite and report the kr,if any and timing. then u guys can have a better formed advice, thanks...be back later, wife gone shopping(awe sh!t)
 
if you already have a 3.5, a 3.4 wont be that much of a diffrence. go with the 3.3.

but really only you can know tho. scan it and see. id rather run higher timing than higher boost, supercharger wont get as hot and fuel consumption is more efficent.
 
youre running low timing on a 3.5, knocking, and want to go to a smaller pulley? what?

keep your 3.5 and run more timing.
 


guys no kr on the current setup!!!!!!!!!!!! the kr was with the plog, now i have headers.. but i may just keep the 3.5 and add timing. thanks gimmie a little credit, i road the long bus, not the short one, damn!!!...lol

keep the 3.5. or drop to the 3.4 maybe. but still your probably better off just running more timing on the 3.5 rather than dropping to the 3.4
 
yes i beleive i like the timing route. just need somewhere to tune it for me. 15minutes outside of birmingham ,,alabama
 


well maybe i;ll do that, just need a 1/8" allen wrench. do u tune yours? i'm in need of a good tune. i have 2 thru 5*kr. some is false kr and all i got is a intense stage 1 tune now...
 
How do you know its false if you don't have a tuner? 5* is nothing to laugh about especially when your thinking about dropping a pulley size.
 
i can do some tuning (im no profesinal tuner tho) but i had an intense stage one pcm and i knocked up to 6-7*, went back to a stock tune, adjusted fueling and uped timing some. i get maybe 2* of knock at the top of 2nd it and rapes the intesne tune.

if you come out this way we can work something out.
 
so should i bring a spare?????or just tune the intense one ? i'm gonna check oout the false knock this week. i believe its in the tune. i will just drive easy, i know its hard to do, but my wife drives it, like a grandma:th_biggrin2:
 
its up to you, do you wanna keep the intense tune?? bring both and ill write it to the stock pcm. i always keep an extra pcm around. sometimes the dhp bricks pcms, **** happens.

my pcms wont work for your car. gotta bring your own, but i woud bring both just in case **** happens and it bricks a pcm (its only happend once, computer started to do an update while i was uploaded a tune, maybe could have saved it but i dident know what i was doing) so just in case, bring another one so you can drive the car back.
 
well this red bastard still has kr........i beleive some to be false but have considered installing another knock sensor (214k miles, maybe its kinda sorta bad?) anyway, will meet up w/robert(blowfish, and see what the hell is up with the car.....so thanks to all who hurt my feelings, u know who u r.:th_tongue2: just kidding thanks dudes, even the a$$holes!
