3.1 Exhaust question

Ok, so recently I discovered that the Cat on my 02 GP SE was clogged causeing performance issues. Rather then spending 300-400 bucks getting the cat replaced, I just removed the Cat and put in a straight pipe.(Emission tests aren't required here) I know the SES light is on because of the missing cat so I know I need to get the code deleted. I was reading some other posts and saw some people saying they removed the cat and their fuel economy went down. What do I need to do to make sure I am not going to have the same issue?

intro please

replace the cat. that is the only solution if you dont want to loose gas mileage. either that or maybe dummy o2's should work
