2008 GXP. Where to start?

Hey i'm new to the forums, and i wanted to start modifying my car with basic bolt-ons. Which vendors carry the best items such as exhaust and intakes for a 2008 5.3L GXP? I haven't been able to find much on my own. Thank you.
 


What about body wise? Is there any special look that GXP drivers go for? I have a 500 dollar limit and just want to spoil my car a little bit.
 


I put the K&N on mine and I have the Magnaflow Exhaust on the way to the house as I am writing this. I got the exhaust for about $675 from autopartswarehouse.com. It lists for $698 from them but they gave me an extra $25 off because I asked for it. A bit cheaper then the $900 list price from Magnaflow. Next on the list is a shift kit and Overkill tune (once available). I am also getting 18X8's all around next weekend to help mitigate the cost of tires in the future!! Boss wheels 328's with 40mm offset....just hoping that they fit!
 
There's a group buy for headers from Doug Thorley going on right now. We're getting them for $650 ($600 if they get enough deposits, please sign on and save me $50!!!), and they'll keep making them a $960 (iirc) after the buy. The headers have a downpipe for each bank (2.5") and merge under the car into a 3" outlet. They're 14 gauge mild steel, ceramic coated inside and out, and they come with a lifetime gaurantee.

As for other mods, you'll have to show some ingenuity because although everything for an LSx can be made work, very little does out of the box. A lot of guys are going with N2O wet kits or the turbo kit. A guy over at LS1tech is running 11.49 at 117 with the turbo kit, a TEP transmission, 1.8 rockers, and a Magnaflow exhaust:

Just got the Magnaflow on the car last night. Was a little more difficult than I thought, as the hardware was rusted up good. I am still surprised at the fast that the stock exhaust was a one piece unit from the cat-back. I guess that I figured that it would have been 2 pieces considering the car is a four door. installing the new exhaust was easy and i luckily had some stainless fasteners that fit the new exhuast perfectly. No real clearance issues once the exhaust was up and moved around a bit.


Sounds great and isn't too loud in the cabin under throttle. Good mellow rumble and at cruising speed just slightly louder than stock. Overal, very happy with it.

Check out the headers thread by WilliamGT. You just need to join at LS1Tech and send WilliamGT a PM with your name, phone number and address. He doesn't post here other than his initial thread trying to get the group buy going. Once you are on the list, you need to call Nick at Doug Thorley Headers (1-800-347-8664) and give hime your credit card for the $100 deposit. It probably wouldn't hurt to let him know you are on the list. From what I understand, there is going to be a limited production run of 70 or so, with about 35 already purchased under the group buy. If you don't get on WilliamGT's list before the group buy ends (soon), then you are stuck buying them for $960 from Doug Thorley directly.
 


I peeked in to hear what you guys had for suggestions and I like them. I just have to wait for the wedding to be done with (May 1st) and I am going all out on my car. MagnaFlow and K&N CAI for sure and also going to put new shocks/struts (whatever it takes lol) Ohhhh I cannot wait for May 2nd.
 
aww no one reppin the flowmaster(sad face here) i got single chamber flowmasters on mine and i couldnt be happier with it, i also have the knn intake and i think its worth it mainly for sound and gas mileage.....oh and for my exaust it only cost me $250 installed for 2 mufflers and res delete.
