2008 Grand Prix headlight problem

Hi everyone,
My daughter has a 2008 Grand Prix with a headlight problem. Last night the headlights quit working while she was driving. I checked the fuse etc and found no problem. I thumped the switch a few times and switched them from auto to 'on' and they came on. A friend told her the problem is the daytime sensor switch that is on the steering column under the bezel. He said it is a common problem and the switch costs about 120 from auto zone or wherever. Has anyone else had this happen? The car only has 24k on it, wouldn't expect something like this to happen already ...

I just did a search to TSB's. I didn't find any, though I only have access to TSB's for the 2004 Grand Prix. That's the first I've heard of the problem.

I'm no expert, but if they only come on in the "on" postion and not "auto", assuming it's dark outside, than yes, I'd agree may have something to do with the sensor. Either that or the headlight switch.

Did you get this problem fixed? I am having the same problem and as I write, the car is at the dealer, and they have no clue as to why this is happening. I only had high beam and both low were out. Sensor? Switch?

Hi Wiley,
The problem is still there but has somewhat cleared up. I think it is a loose connection or faulty switch within the steering column or multifunction switch. I personally have only seen it happen once and after turning the switch on and off a few times and thumping the column with my hand the lights came back on. Both my daughter and her boyfriend have said it happens after you hit a bump in the road...
