2007 grandprix running hot issues.

Hello... I having an issue with my temperature gauge showing that my car is running hot. Fans are not coming on but, when I turn the air conditioning on, the fans kicks in. This morning, the needle went to 75% of the way before the read area. I'm thinking that it could possibly be the coolant temp sensor but I want other advice from grand prix owners and mechanics ?????

The temp sensor is a good place to start. Buy a new one and see if it still does the same. Also while you are in there, check the condition of your rad hoses and check for any leaks around the coolant elbows which are on the left side of the engine. These engines were designed to run hotter than others so if it's your first 3800, the higher operating temp is normal. I would start getting concerned when it's like a line or 2 away from the red if I were you.
