2007 grand prix factorysystem upgrade

big rollie

Whats going on people? Man i've been thinking about upgrading my factory sounds and came to a conclusion that i am going with a

Pioneer AVH 3300BT HU and

Either Pioneer or Polk components all around maybe a box, depends on what the bank says

My question is this, I've been lookin at a bunch of reviews and stuff like that but i would like to know what i actually need as far as harness switches or anything like that. Or does anybody recommend anything that would work good on this vehicle?

thanks for your input

Any audio store is going to reccomend a $120 harness to retain your factory door chimes. Best buy LOL @ myself for even trying there... said that I would have issues with my airbags, abs, traction, and a bunch of other things if I didn't use the expensive harness...

The rest of this is personal experience and my own research, if you mess up your car, its not on me. I used a metra 97-2003 wiring harness in my 2004, non-monsson, non-onstar. I had to wire the switched power source to my gauges, because from what I've found, none of my fuses are switched. This requires manually starting the radio when I get in and turning it off when I get out. The only things I lost were the date on the DIC and door chimes.

My setup is a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with Alpine type r speakers in the back and factory up front (until I sell my 5 1/4 type r fronts for something 6.5).

You have two pink wires in your ignition harness, under the driverside dash. Why not just tag that line and run that to your gauges/radio?

I've looked under the dash, but couldn't find anything... I think my car is retarded, but I'll look again when I get a chance.

It should look similar to this....granted this is an 03

If you're that hard up to skip out on the RAP harness then just grab a switch from Radio Shack and throw that in line with the 12V always on wire that's in the radio harness...that's about $1.50 total?
