2007 GP GT Modded Vers GXP

people wanna say headers are not needed, but i installed my headers after my intake and WOW it made a world of difference. i also went with pacesetters. if you just slap them together they will leak but if you use the right clamps or just weld them then you dont have this issuie.

By WOW what did you really notice. How hard are they to install- how long to install. How are they installed, I mean , top bottom, and how much crap do I need to take off to install them .

thanks

Check out some header threads...it isn't the easiest thing to do, nor the most difficult, but you can do it with basic hand tools and blood. Yeah...you'll lose some blood :D If you've never done anything like that...take a WHOLE day...and be sure to PB Blast or WD40 the piss out of the exhaust bolts the night before to help you out. Get Pacesetter's. For the price you can't beat them...and I have a thread that tells you how they are all welded correctly... http://www.grandprixforums.net/f73/leak-free-pacesetter-modification-16085.html

by wow i mean on a cold day still with the same set of tires i went from barking the tires a little when i nailed it at 20 to spining all the way threw first. probably the equavalent to droping a few pulley sizes. all around power picked up, i dident have to wait till high rpm to pull on people, it had grunt all around then.

best mod ive done so far. the rockers are also right there with it. awesome mod

So I contacted my pontiac dealer today about if I would void my warranty if I installed headers. The Serive manager said you can put on after market parts but with out voiding your warranty, But if the aftermarket parts cause the car to fail then the repairs would be customer paid. Headers should not have any effect on a cars mechanical structure going south. Headers will only help the car breath.

So what headers should I go with. SSAC? Pace crappers

commennts????

if u have the cash, dont go for pacesetters...personally I wouldn't want the leak headache, you get what you pay for...if moneys not a problem, get TOG!!!!

togs=the other guys..

so SSAC then? or what . keep in mind I don't want to spend $500 either but don't want cheap junk

If you install them right then there are no issues and blow the other header companies out of the water with the money you save. I've had mine for about 40K and after doing what is in this thread: http://www.grandprixforums.net/f73/leak-free-pacesetter-modification-16085.html

I have yet to have any issues what-so-ever.

yeah but are you really getting the most out of ur car with pacesetters? and also from ur modification it looks like theres some welding? not everyone has this nor access to one. personally if I ever decide to mod my engine, it won't be with pacesetter, but thats IMO.

i dont think their junk but defently not the best. I just wouldn't want to deal with any leak issues for a brand new item. thats My Opnion, also I'm the type of person who will get the "best" stuff.

Are you kidding? The only other header I think that has a bigger primary are TOG's Xtreme headers...and those don't even exist anymore...and it has a full 3" Downpipe to my 3" Exhaust...pretty sure it flows as good if not better than any SLP/ZZP System that costs at LEAST twice as much.

and also from ur modification it looks like theres some welding? not everyone has this nor access to one.

I didn't weld it. I would have trashed it. That is done at a local exhaust shop and I paid a guy to do it on the car...just read the thread and not look at my pictures. If you don't have any exhaust shop near your place of residence...then move.

personally if I ever decide to mod my engine, it won't be with pacesetter, but thats IMO.

Still don't see why not...people have proven them over and over. IF you are on a budget, like most people in this economy, then you would spring for something that works, not something way overpriced that does the same thing...and TICKS...like the $1,000 SLP's...and you can't get rid of that...ZZP's...downpipe to catback flange is all sorts of crocked sideways...it made Reptile's catback all bent out of shape...not with my Pacesetter's...bolted right but to the catback...oh and did I mention that they still only cost MAYBE $550 for EVERYTHING?

also if you cant weld band clamps do the trick. if you wanna shell out the money go for it but its not that hard to stop the leaks.

i heard the SSAC where a little difficult to install plus they have a weird U bend in them at the downpipe.

i would say pacesetters could flow with any other header. you just have to take your time and seal them up right. for the money you save its not that bad.

OOoo I didnt realize pacesetters were so good??? I figured this "leak" issue was a biggie, since almost everyone has one? sooo ur saying the preformance is nearly the same as any other header and the flow?? we'll I read ur post and it's tooo much story, kinda confused me to exactly what you need to do to seal it...

weld it or clamp it. to metal pipes slide into one another. its not hard to seal.

there is no problem with how they flow. they are designed bascially like all other headers except pacesetters are larger tubing. the SSAC actually have a ubend in them if you wanna compare flow.

I had a good set of clamps and still blew the flanges apart...when you launch it hard enough, have solid mounts, have a lot of power, or drive like an ass like me...having them welded was full of win. And yes...ZZP bull****ted and said that their headers give like 15+f.lbs or any other 3800 header...I call epic bull**** since they are the same as the Pacerusters.

So now you all have me a little confused. What headers is a person to go with, weather you are band clamping them or welding them?
