2007 Base vs 1999 GTP

I have the choice of either paying off my moms 2007 base that she doesn't like and keeping it, or getting a 99 GTP. Any opinions on what I should go for?
 


A guy on here started with an 05 Base and its now a Supercharged car with a 3.2 pulley thats faster than mine. Its up to you, it takes Money to play, not everything can just happen with a car.

I think about that everytime I think how I would like to work on another car right now, but my Grand Prix is almost were I want it, you gotta start somewhere.

Adding a supercharged would cost me 2k+ to the base.
 
GTP would be more fun, but you've gotta take into effect that the 07' will probably have less wear on it, and since it was in the family, you know how its been taken care of and not abused...Even though its just a base you can still build it up in the future...Also look into if there will be a big difference in insurance prices between the two

Moms only owned it for like a year. It had 50k when we bought it, now at 60k. The GTP is at 111k
 


5k is still a decent amount. They can be had for 3k, hell theres one for sale down the road from me, 1999 GTP with 120k on it, brand new Supercharger on it for $2700.

If you shop around, you could get a good GTP, and still have money to do **** to it.

Though, if you dont want to mod anything, or have a fun car, go with the Base.
 
How deep are your pockets? The 99 GTP would be more fun at first, but how well maintained is it? Are all the bushings good? Rack? Struts? LIM gaskets? That trans. is gonna need to be replaced sooner than the one in the 07 (I would hope), so there goes another 2K for a good one.

I would add up all the normal "wear" items that would need to be replaced right off the bat on the 99, and then see how close it is to the price of the 07. You might just find that the cost is closer than you may think.

Though I am more partial to the looks of the 97-03 Prix. Friend at work has an 07 base and I get more compliments on my 00 GPGT than he ever does, lol...

In the end its what YOU want to drive, not what everyone else thinks though. Just my .02

changed my mind, get whatever you want, but if the 99 is in crap shape get the 07 and poopercharge it.

Otherwise get the 97 and do some body work mods, and do the 3.4 setup with supporting mods.
