Greetings. Looking for advice on what things I need to get serviced on my car (2006 Grand Prix base). I've owned it for about 6 years after it spent one year as a rental car. I received it with 18,000 miles and it now has just over 36,000. I daily drive it as it is my only car, but I will be selling it or trading it in in about 6-9 months for hopefully a 2013 Chevy Cruze Eco-D (diesel) when they finally become available (better mileage but still good torque pull, smaller, lighter, updated tech, etc). I have had great luck with this car requiring very little maintenance so far, partly due to how little I drive (work and family both within 5 minutes drive), but as time goes on I feel I should be doing some maintenance from age, not mileage. The engine has 1520 hours on it according to the computer.
Since I've owned the car this is the work that has been done:
Oil change and wiper blades twice a year (every 1500 miles average)
Fuel pump replaced (3 years ago) due to factory fault that took a while to surface
Power window actuator motor replaced (likely due to disuse, passenger rear)
Set of tires replaced ahead of schedule due to my living at apt complex with gravel parking for a couple of years
That's it. Now I look in my owner's manual and it shows 25,000 mile service is all just inspections. 50,000 mile service is transmission fluid and filter replacement (if mostly city driven) and air filter replacement. 75,000 mile service is a repeat of the 25,000 service. 100,000 service is air filter again, the normal use transmission fluid and filter and the first replacement of spark plugs. The book indicates the Engine Cooling System should be serviced at 150,000 miles or every 5 years, so I'm sure that needs to be done.
Seeing as my car was probably made in 2005 it is approximately 7 years old but with 36k miles I'm not exactly sure what needs to be done. Also since I will be selling the car in the near future, I'd rather not do any expensive maintenance if I don't have to (over $1k for a single maintenance job, for example). I need to make sure the car will last me another 6-9 months, but I also don't want to pass off a problem to the next owner so I want the car to be in good shape.
