wife just bought a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition with 45,000 miles. exterior is white and tan. interior has leather seats, which are tan colored. 4X4, new battery, fresh oil change, pretty new tires. it is in very good shape. she paid basically 10K for it. it's book value for clean retail is 11,925 and clean trade in is 9200.

I don't feel like we got a great deal. am I being stingy?
 


Doesn't sound far off the mark to me for the mileage. Depends on the options it came with too. Get the 4.6 or the 4.0L?
 
Dealer or private party sale? Warranty? Very low miles for a 10-YR old vehicle, doesn't sound like a bad deal from what you mention. Also remember that prices are regional and 4x4's are always in strong demand in your area.

private party, 4x4 is in just as high demand in Pennsylvania, where it originated, and nada/kbb book value is actually 200 dollars lower there. really the only good thing about it is the low mileage, but, browsing the local classifieds, the same vehicle can be found with double the mileage and more options. I did see one vehicle for sale that was nearly identical for 1k dollars less than what we paid.
 
You got hosed bro. 6k and under all day here. 100k miles or less. Few years ago I sold my brother a 02 4x4, 3rd row, 4.0, new brakes, new tires, new battery, everything mint with 90k for $3200. Never in my life would I pay 10k for a almost 11 year old car when you can buy something a few years old for few thousand more.
