2005 Remote problems

I have a 2005 that the remote doesn't work unless you're next to the car. I have replaced the battery in the remote with no luck.
I was told there is a plug in antenna on the reciever in the car, but no idea where it is.
Any ideas??

could be the contacts inside the remote too. i just soldered mine recently for a similar problem
 
Damn ya i resoldered, it worked for about a week intermittently then quit so i bought a new one.

crappy part is with our cars the dealer has to program the fob.
