2004 Special Editions

Kaiser Pontiac

So, I've been trying to find concrete information about the SpEd '04s...., and there's not much out there. Wondering if anyone could shed more light/information on them, perhaps what sort of options were standard and what colors they came in?

What tidsbits I've been able to gather have said:
1000 GTs and 1000 GTPs made
105 Superior Blues made
available in blue, white, red, and silver for GTs
I've personally seen white and blue GTs, and black and blue GTPs so I know those exist...
GTPs had the 17" version of the 18" Bonnie GXP rims, GTs had similar/same rims as the 40th GPs *
GTPs had hood vents
had the chrome on the interior door panel handles and ring around the interior door latch **
Also read that the SpEds were fully loaded with 5 button DIC, HUD, SPO color-matched grills, painted lower facias, SPO quad exhaust tips, heated leather, sunroof, ect. The GTP I saw was, but there's a girl at school who drives a Superior Blue GT SpEd and it doesn't have HUD or five button DIC...

In my mess of bookmarks I haven't been able to locate where I read most of this, lol.

If any one can give some more info, or perhaps some dealer pamphlets? Maybe some scans of the literature shown with a GTP here: http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/printable.asp?m=5968138&mpage=&cookieCheck=336825021 :D :P

Unless a thread like this already exists and my various fruitless Google searches lied..., I'd like to gather and collect whatever information there is out there on them and post it here. Pictures, scans, ect..

Thanks!

ok here we go....

THe SE package (B2E) on the RPO code listed in the sales book as Spring Special could have been had on any GT2 or GTP and NOT available with the CompG package

I have seen stripped down GT2's and fully loaded GTP's (like mine) with every option checked off on the list

now for some clarification

-105 Superior Blues made

correct, and this is the only time the color appeared on the GP, and is the Rarest SE color

-available in blue, white, red, and silver for GTs

Correct Superior Blue, Ivory white, Sport Red metallic, Ivory White, and Black

-GTPs had the 17" version of the 18" Bonnie GXP rims, GTs had similar/same rims as the 40th GPs

Almost correct.....the 17" Version of these wheels are actually from the Pontiac SV6 Mini Van. The wheels do have a different thickness and a slightly different shape of spoke compared to the Bonneville GXP. The GT2 wheels are the exact same as the 01 SE and the 02 40th.

-GTPs had hood vents

Correct they are also the Same as the 01 SE and the 40th The vents also have a supercharged decal on them

-had the chrome on the interior door panel handles and ring around the interior door latch

almost correct. The SE did NOT have the Chrome around the Door handles, it DID have the chrome door panel pulls. These are different than the GXP as they are brushed alum on the GXP

Some other things the SE has are door sills (that were available from GM Accessories) Special Edition embroidered floor mats, Monochromatic bumpers, Dual/Dual Tips (also available from GM accessories/GP SPO) and the GM Accessories/GM SPO spoiler and also has color matches GM Accessories/GM SPO grills all as Standard equipment

as I said my GTP SE is one of 5 with options listed (including head curtain airbags) in Superior Blue

Ah hah! Thanks a bunch for the info. I see that now that they don't have the chrome ring...

So the options were HUD, Monsoon, 6CD changer, sunroof, leather, 5 button DIC options on SpEds, but SPO grills, SPO quad tips, SPO spoiler, door sills (are these like a second set like Buicks commonly have?), and steering wheel radio controls were standard? Were head curtain air bags the only extra air bag option?

I have an 2005 GT with HUD, Monsoon, 6CD changer, sunroof, leather, 5 button DIC, steering wheel radio controls, steering wheel radio controls, head curtain air bags, SPO grills, SPO quad tips, basically every option. I have been told that mine is a "Sport Package"

the only things that were Mandatory with the special edition were SPO grills, SPO quad tips, SPO spoiler, door sills. You could select any combo of options you wanted.

Think of it like this, take ANY GT2 or GTP back in 04 that you could throw options on at the dealer......any one of them could have had the B2E Spring Special package added to them at the time of production

I see those on a rare occasion. Didn't know they had a name for a loaded GT2+all SPO options, hmm...., more research time.

there is NO RPO code or name for that combo. Most of the cars either had the parts added at the dealer or actually came from production like that

the Special Edition Door sills are like this EXCEPT they DO NOT say Grand Prix
