2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP



Ugh, big bill with another on coming! Right front hub isn't doing too great & I was told I should consider getting a new oil pan as the seal was showing signs of getting bad as it had moisture where it shouldn't. 😧
Hopefully I made a good choice getting this automobile! Service mgr sd other than those 2 things that car was in very good shape & working order. ☺

Is the car noisy from the right front when driving? If it is then yeah you couldnuse a hub. If not then drive it till it gets noisy IMO.

As for the leaky oil pan, welcome to the club :) I'll only worry about it when it starts leaving stains on my driveway. But a "moist" oil pan is par for course with these engines.
 
No it sounds good, one major accident is enough for me!

At what mileage do you all switch out your sparkplugs & wires?

What should I put in for spark plugs & wires? Thanks Jameslvey24 for your suggestion, but when should I replace the sparkplugs & wires normally?
I've already changed out:
- motor oil - Royal Purple 10w30. Last vehicle I had it gave me over 4 mpg better. My hopes may be high, but I'm hoping for something similar!
- Supercharger oil
- Transmission oil
- Antifreeze/water for cooling system
I only got 24.94478368mpg @ 75 mph Hwy & very little city driving! 192mi worth total!!!😧
Just a reminder it's a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8l Supercharged with 65,245mi.
I plan on putting in my K&N air filter, that I already have, sooner than later too!

Right now I'm getting 14mpg with a fat tune on e85 and plenty of WOT runs. :) If you are staying mostly stock just put stock plugs and wires in.
 
I didn't get a service manual when I purchased it, that's why I'm asking when should that be done & what should be used. Oh, & why.

I don't know what 2004 uses. Just go to amazon and search for plugs for your car. Your car uses iridium plugs I think, so probably still good. Wires I would do if they were stock just because of the age of them. Uses ac delco brand plugs and whatever "premium" wires your parts store carries, or get ac delco.

I was advised to use only copper plugs only. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but why?

If you are dropping pulleys copper in a colder heat range such as AL104 or AL 103's are recommended. If not stock plugs will work fine. You CAN use copper, but you will be changing them much more often.
