2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - Transmission Issue

I know next to nothing about cars, so any help would be greatly appreciated.


I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix that is having a transmission issue. It has been laggy shifting gears lately, and I recently had my transmission fluid flushed and changed. That seemed to temporarily fix it, but then it started acting up again.

This morning, when I put my car into drive, the transmission did not even kick in. I may as well have put my car into neutral.

However, I am able to go in reverse, and it works if I put it into Manual mode and use the paddle shifters to change gears.

What could the issue be? Would it be easily fixable? Am I looking at an expensive repair?

Sounds like your forward band broke in the trans. You're looking at a full rebuild to fix it. If you get a junkyard trans make sure you get a comp g trans.
