2004 head unit

Dadillac

New member
I bought my son a 2004 GT1 about a week and a half ago. He loves the car except for the stereo. First I would imagine that hat it is the base stereo. It is a single CD unit. It has a bulb out on the display and he cannot hook up his iPod. I am considering changing the stereo for him. Can any factory head unit for the 2004 model year be installed? Do any of them offer a way to hook up the iPod? I would rather stay OEM. If not and I go aftermarket does the appropriate adapter work with no negative traits? When I installed a head unit in my old Caddy I ended up losing single pulse chimes. I do not want to lose anything to gain anything. TIA

No headunit for any model grand prix has a aux input or ipod hook up. It's a guy on ebay that sells factory radios with a aux input. It's a how to on the forums that I used to install my input jack in the storage hole under the climate control.

As for the bulb. To replace it requires some soldering so when mine went I just replaced the unit itself. If you go that route be prepared to pay a dealership to program the new head unit to the VIN number of your car.
