• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

2004 gto

Well who would like to come down to Texas and film me? The only video I have is of the Z and I already posted that link here. I have been thinking of getting a GoPro or two, but I'm waiting for some parts for the Z to come in. That's my main project and the main reason for me to go through the hassle of capturing, converting, and uploading clips, to be honest. I just did the GXP for this GTO guy who said he was coming in from Iraq for some R&R and wanted to have some fun before going back. I also bought some Trick Flow heads and upsize Comp cams for my T-Bird because I didn't know which of the 3 cars would be ready to run the GTO. I'm glad I had something though.

nice kill. Do you have anything done to the GXps trans?
The turbo kit includes a shift kit and that is installed. The dyno tuners had also firmed up the shifts before. And I already had a trans cooler, but due to the additional heat of the turbo kit I may have to separate the cooler from the radiator fittings. Right now they are inline.

CarTuning.ca had sent a 160* thermostat with this kit, but I don't think that's working too well in my climate. The car is back at the tuner right now to 1) Put my stock or 180* thermostat back in; 2) up the boost and finish the tune; 3) install boost and wideband guages; 4) wrap the turbo for better underhood temps; 5) mount the exhaust cut-out switch so that I can just press it instead of using my whole hand to hold it and flip the switch.

Lulz at slowchoke....

I think people where doubting the part about a basically stock LS1 Goat beating an 11 5.0. If you look, I was one of the ones who said the new 5.0's aren't always 12 second cars. I'm not sure if you're coming at me or not, but I don't think me or anybody else has anything to apologize about here. I was just wondering what you had to say, u mad?
There's a local production called "San Antonio Drag Wars" that highlights the every day track action, pass by pass. They recently showed a brand spanking new 5.0 Mustang doing a 14.2 and losing to an LS1 Camaro, also at 14.2. Trap speeds were 112, 110 respectively, iirc...very close anyway. So yes, that proves to me that it is well within the realm of possibility for a tuned GTO to beat a new 5.0 given the right circumstances.

That sounds dangerous. Need shutdown room from 130mph+

Here's a decent example of the difference. This car ran in October 2009 in cool 50*-55* temps at SAR but still could not approach mph and et from Sacramento Raceway earlier that year.

Ls1 RX7 clutch problems 10.5@135 - YouTube

Texas mile 1/4 run movie - YouTube

~-0.6sec and -4mph on the same setup

-So...we often get 13 and 14-sec new 5.0s whereas people elsewhere are accustomed to seeing them do mid-high 12s.

-Hence...a tuned GTO on good tires and driver can beat one on a given night since the GTO did a 13.6 on bald street radials and a slipping 2nd gear.

-Hence...a turbo GXP stomping said GTO on a roll with only 5.5 pounds of boost and running pig rich is a kill that I am :D about

-Hence...a turbo GXP beating the EVO9 that beat said GTO...well :D

And thanks to those that have already acknowledged that in previous posts. I don't often have nights where everything goes right like it did.

Just like I told the guy with the 12 second all motor ZX2...I'll send you a junky camera I don't use anymore...he declined and never responded and actually hasn't been on here since.

I'll upload a couple of pics from my digital camera showing the turbo kit installed in case people are actually doubting that part.

why does no one think a stock 5.0 can be beat by ls1? there are tons of videos proving this...

We're talking stock LS1 or close to it, also don't forget GTO LS1's are a bit heavier then the Fbody LS1.

In any event, please show me "tons" of videos proving stock LS1 cars can beat new 5.0's? Can it happen, sure. Should it, hell no...I've had this arguement many times before.

And no Verz, you're story does not count. :)

Might even run a 5.0 so everyone can REALLY freak out.

Who's freaking out? The fact is that a stock LS1 GTO, or a stock LS1 Fbody for that matter SHOULD not even be a close matchup. Period, that's all there is to it.

Like i said before, you can beat the driver sure. And if a stock LS1 GTO is beating a new 5.0, then that's all he is beating. What kind of forum would this be if every single person here just smiled and said "nice kill". Somebody has to say the obvious, and this time many people did.
