2004 Grand Prix HUD ghost image

My 2004 GP GTP heads up display has had a slight ghost image ever since I bought it last fall. I noticed in an automatic car wash that when water hit the windshield that the image suddenly became crystal clear, but the ghost image would reappear as soon as the water was wipped away. I have read about having the wrong windshield can cause HUD image issues, but I have to imagine that if I did infact have the wrong windshield the image wouldn't be near as clear is it is.

MY QUESTION IS:

When I have my HUD unit apart this weekend to fix the infamous broken plastic braket that the spring attaches to, is there anything I need to look at inside the unit itself to possibly fix this issue?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the ghosting but I will say that I added the HUD on my car and I don't have the special windshield and I don't have any ghosting issues. Guess I would just make sure that the windshield and lens on the HUD are all clean to make sure your not getting some strange reflection.

it seems like its a hit or miss when adding one. added one in my ol 97 and it was fine, buudy put one in his 98 and look sketchy.

Added a HUD to my car and Im gonna agree with Chamilton. I don't have the "special" glass and my HUD appears clear as day. Clean your HUD lens or windshield. This image has a ghost image because the camera couldn't figure out what to focus on.
