2003 GTP radio question

if you have a bose you want to make sure the new radio is also a bose radio.

for the aux port you can do this mod to the radio, i did it to my regal radio and another member did it as well to a gp radio, mines a regal radio, so with some reading you cane figure it out, it also only cost 5 bucks or less total in parts if you already have a soldering iron, and solder and shrink tubes. 3 bucks for the aux port, and 90 cents for a cat 9 wire at home depot, i got like 3 feet, more then enough.

the solder, you want to use flux core solder, 5 bucks, the tubes and iron can be gotten at harbor freight for less then ten bucks.

How you can add an aux input/mp3 player without an adapter - LS1TECH

Well, that is definitely an excellent way to utilize the existing radio. Since I was an electronics Technician in the military, soldering like that would be no problem. However, I was hoping for a "plug and play" solution, and am debating on changing my head unit for one with the cd/aux button, or installing an aftermarket head unit. I just don't want to loose all the dings and things that run through the factory radio.

they sell a harness that retains the steering wheel controls and all the bells and whistles as it was stock. just not cheap.

i just replaced all 4 speakers in my car, still got the stock radio, and the sound is like day and night, i bet its easily twice as loud as it used to be. then i added a 12 inch sub and a 500 watt amp. the sub woofer over powers the radio, so i have it turned down under half so if matches the radios max level. i must say, its just enough to keep me happy. the sub fills in a lot of sound.

Okay, now.... what are my options if I want to go to an aftermarket double din DVD player, possibly with GPS in it, and the ability to hook up a reverse camera, and..... retain the steering wheel controls?
