2002 GTP Problem need help

I bought a 2002 GTP today test drove it 2 times in 2 weeks couldn't say a thing bad about it. About 30 on the highway SES light popped on I had my scanner so I plugged it in I got EGR low circ. code. I cleared it and drove another 30 miles no code. Ran to the store and left it running I come back to SES light and I thought for sure it would be the EGR but It was P0171 (lean condition bank one). Im stumped the EGR valve seems functional and from what I can carbon inst clogging it. The only problem I found was the bracket that holds the EGR tube to the mount were your EGR valve goes was missing a bolt. Could that small leak cause my problems EGR included?

OBD-II DTC: P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1) read that and do as it says before buying anything. clean the maf, check for vac leaks with carb cleaner.

if your talking about the 2 bolts that hold the egr to the pedestal on the tubes, that can cause a vac leak. fix that up. that maybe causing both codes.

the egr code. was it a p0404? i had the same code come up low voltage. the light went off on its own, and then i still changed it. all good so far.

Thanks for the reply. I removed the EGR valve and throttle body, the tube that connects the EGR valve to the Intake on one side wasn't even finger tight and the end were it connects to the EGR valve bracket there was no nut the tube was just sitting there so to speak. I cleaned up the TB really good also cleaned the MAF. Since napa is closed I wont know if this fixed my problem till it opens tomorrow so I can pick up a new TB gasket. Im also going to pick up a fuel filter, plugs and wires. I should also note on WOT it had a hesitation hopefully this was the reason.

I couldn't wait, I made the hour drive to an o'rileys picked up a new fuel filter and TB gasket. Took it for a 30 min drive and no SES lights. Did some WOTs about 1/2 of the time it had the hesitation. I remember hearing somewhere to unplug the maf and see if it fixes the problem but about 1 minute after I unpluged it, it stalled. Does that mean anything? Also when you say check for vac leaks with carb cleaner should I spray around the LIM?

something with in your evap is leaking, so you could try carb cleaner, spray the T's and ends of the lines, where they plug in, also move them a bit when spraying. spray the evap solenoid and map sensors on the back of the engine and the the hoses off the top of the TB, that one that loops back goes to the evap, it breaks as well as the other old factory rubber ends. and the egr tubes.

i think you said you did new vac lines, i dont know if you did all of them or not.

lim would have to real bad to cause the leak. but i have heard of the O rings on the injectors causing a vac leak, or miss fire as well.

sounds cold. i drive a regal so its not the same dash, but i run 1 line under 1/2 or at a 1/4 or so. you should see the needle around 190 to 200 easy when good and warmed up in your car.

you may want to bleed the t stat housing bleeder screw, you may have air trapped, if coolant streams out right away, the temp sensor may have gone bad.

bottom right is my temp, thats where it lives most of the time, if im stuck in traffic in the summer it will hit 1/2 and hold.

Well I drove her about 2 hours today no codes seems to be running better than ever I replaced the front 3 plugs n wires (waiting on more AL 606's). Dog bones were shot I replaced them and twisted the bushing for firmness. Still running 1/8 of the guage I bled it had a solid stream. Is it possible the thermostat is stuck open? I remember on my 03 it threw a code when it stuck open.

it could be stuck open, only one way to find out....you know the drill.

glad you got her running good now. i hate my car when the cel is on.

Well I didn't think id be posting anytime soon but I have this tick I wasnt too woried about at first but its persistent and noticeable. It seems to be coming from the driver side front tire it sounds like its coming from the transmission but im not sure. It only makes this tick/rattle noise in park and neutral. Any Ideas?

does it sound like rocks tumbling in the sc? could be a bad coupler.

you can take the sc belt off turn the sc pulley back and fourth, like snap it, if you feel it click, your due for a new one.

No you can only hear it on the drivers side specifically in the Front L wheel well. Its not a timed out tick if that makes sense more like a random tick or rattle.
