2002 gp gt trans problem.

I have a 02 gp gt with 86,000 miles on it. Last saturday afternoon I hit a huge pot hole and ever since the trans has been shifting slow/hanging between shifts and becomes more noticeable with higher rpms. Today I drove it and the shifting seems to be getting worse. I check the fluid level and is in good range and condition but there were air bubbles in the fluid every time I pulled the dipstick. I dropped the trans pan and there isn't any metal shavings or loose part in there and the filter was still where it belongs. Now I am kinda of stuck on what else I can check. I don't have any leaking or loose wires that I can find. I am hoping someone else may have come across a similiar situation. Any help would be appreciated. (and I did do a search first) Thanks!

I think you may have a small leak in the channel plate gasket. Which..is reasonably deep in there. How comfortable are you working on the car?

Somewhat comfortable, just not used to working on front wheel drive cars. Is there a way to verify without pulling it apart first?
