2001 GTP Goes In Reverse But Not In Any Other Gear

Hey guys my trans went out the other day. It goes in reverse bot not in any other gears. I just wanted to check and see if you guys thought it might be anything peripheral before I go and spend the money for parts to rebuild myself or paying somebody to rebuild it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Not even when you put it is 1st?

If so, the forward band musta let go.

nope shifting manually from 1st doesn't work either, reverse is the only one. I limped it home shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to D but by the time I got home that wouldnt work. I live on a really steep hill it just didn't have enough left to make it up so I had to reverse it up. lol Yeah from what ive been reading forward band sounds right. Im a pretty experienced mechanic but Ive never messed with transmissions before. Im seriously considering just getting a tech manual and going for it, doing a full rebuild with a kit from triple edge performance and 3.29s because all the estimates Ive gotten from the transmission guys around where I live were crazy like $1200. If I decide to do that does anybody know about what special tools I would need?
