2000 trans in a 2004 car

My car is an 04 Impala SS, got a line on a motor and trans from a 00 Regal GS.

I need the motor, but wouldn't mind swapping over the transmission with half the miles as mine too if it'll work.

Will this work, or what will I run into? At most I've read about some electronics changes in 04'.
It's also looking like the cooler lines are also different. :/

From what ive heard.. The only transmission that will fit our cars (i have a 04 Indy SS) are 2004-2005 Impala / Monte Carlo SS that came with the HD trans Maybe someone else will chime in but you might want to check with Dave @ TEP (triple edge performance) he knows everything there is to know about these trannys...

The line connections are the same. However the valve body/channel plate has differences. Beyond that most of the stuff is identical.

Physically and electrically it should work then? Or with minor modification?

There's nothing wrong with my 2004 trans besides high miles. The donor has half as many.

If you swapped the channel plate and valve body with your older worn ones, sure you could do it. You'd also need to swap over the internal pnp switch or mount an external one on the trans.

Personally, I don't think it's worthwhile to make it work unless you are having trouble.

Well I'll go ahead and leave my original one in, but I'll keep the lower mile one just to have for a spare then. :)
