2000 Hood Struts - Really?

OK - just got a 2000 Grand Prix for my daughter. Doesn't have any hood struts in it. I see the top pins but the bottom looks like they slide into a slot. Am I right on this or are the bottom pins busted off?

uh yeah they slide onto something there on the bottom. the top one should be a little nipple like thing.

pick some up from the junkyard or they sell em at autozone for a really high price. but hey, convenience is key
