Trannyman95 i am being told that i need a 2000 tranny for my car because it is a 2000. one year only. from my research and the roomers i heard that only 1998 was the year that had to be a 1998. can u tell me your knowledge about these and other years. also i was told that late model 2000 are different thatn the early model 2000. i assume all this is explained on the transmission tag to kno which transmission i have and i need lol. i had the car up for sale locally for like 2200, but to be honest i love the car and i took it down. i cant sell it. also do you have ne input on the t raptor tranny thats out there? i will say this, because it is built up, it seems like that is the "wish list" tranny. for 3000 dollars tho...the things i could do myself on a bench twice if i had to lol. seems a lil steep. i notice warranties on these things make it seem that anything can happen lol.

yes i know about the vacuum modulator on the 97's i believe that trans is actually a 4t60e-hd. i dont know my code as of yet, its either a xab or an xbb most likely the more expensive one. hehe yay!

With a 2000 car you can use a 2000-2002 model year trans as a direct swap. Why the interchange manuals list 00 only is beyond me. Yes there were two models in 00, XA and XB and this was only done in 2000. They interchange no problem at all. The XA code is used from 97-02. There are a few HK code transmissions from the 97s and they work also. There was a minor valve body change that has no effect on interchange for that year. As far as the 97s go only the non-supecharged cars had a 4T60E and the GTPs with supercharged engines got the 4T65E. Other car line transmissions from a supercharged car will work also as they all (supercharged equipped cars) have the same gear ratio from 97-02. In short- you can put any 97-02 GTP/GS trans in any 97-02 GTP/GS. They all have the same electrical setup, same gear ratio, same torque converter. BUT- 97-99 model years had a thread in style cooler line on the trans while all 2000+ cars used a quick connect style cooler line at the trans. If you want to use a pre 00 trans in a 00+ car this either requires using older style thread in lines or you have to drill and tap the feed cooler fitting in the trans case which is definately not something I would do in the car as you are going to get metal in the trans. To use a 00+ trans in an older car you just need to get the correct cooler line fittings to use thread on lines and SOME 99 model year cases had the correct fittings to do this but they are all available from the dealer. I have converter lots of cores to work in vehicles they didnt come in over the years and there arent any problems because the internals for the most part are all the same as is the valve bodies and how they work. Since the pcm controls everything it is up to the calibration as to how the perform different in different cars. The 2003+ transmissions are when the interchange problems start because electrically they are different.
