Re: 2000 GTP: TB results are in! Ported TB FTW!
AZ trip came and went. Everything went relatively well. I made the mistake of thinking that I would be able to find new tires easier in the big city, nope. It took Big-O tire a full day to get the right sized tires, then one went flat on the way home...in 112* weather...after they closed on 7\3. So I was on a donut until 7\5. Yay. Then they said they would only replace the tire if I got their stupid warranty, and took another full day to get another tire. 2 days gone on a 5 day trip, yay. THEN on the way up to visit my mom, the fuel pump died and left us on the side of the road in 110*F weather for 2 hours. $220 later, I was up and running again. That last part sucked, but at least it was close to someone, no in the middle of BFE New Mexico.
Other than that stuff, the car did good. Going up to Flagstaff on the way home I had to pull over and let the transmission cool, but it was 105*F out, and I just climbed 3,500 ft in elevation at 75+ MPH, it had an excuse to be hot. If I was going to live there again (yea, right), I'd bypass the radiator portion of the transmission cooler. She pulled 29.3 MPG on the way there, and 27.6 MPG on the way home. We have pics, but I don't know how many of them have the car in it.
Oh, and this trip officially got my up to 20k on the car since we got it...4.5 years ago, lol. Anyways, now that the trip is done and over with, fun stuff starts happening to the car again, YAY.
