Re: 2000 GTP: Transmission Fun
Productive day today, I was able to get the car tuned a bit better, then TB swapped on, and a brief log before the laptop died. Everything is awesome with the TB, the engine sounds better, it made a pretty big difference in the butt dyno (confirmed by my buddy who was with me for both drives), and it looks great. I started the day with driving the same drive I'd be doing all the tests on, logging it, and making changes to the fuel trims. This was the first time I had really done that since putting the LQ4 on, so it wasn't very pretty. Lots of over +10% LTFT, I knew it was bad, but not that bad. I'd been staying out of boost because of it. I did get some WOT runs in, with a max of 5.00* KR.
Using a cell with 5672.25 RPM for reference, I had 9646.97hz, 2.02*KR, and 158 kPa (8.2PSI). I ran some fueling changes, drove for 30 miles, which was 10 miles after the fuel trims had settled down and stayed consistent. Lean, about 7-8% at 0% idle and cruising, then the second I touched the throttle it'd drop to -3%thru+3%. I logged the way home, let it cool off, swapped the TB, and went for the same cruise, logged the way home, but my laptop died halfway thru. I did get the WOT run in the beginning, the rest would have been hills and cruising. On that run, using the same 5672.25 RPM cell for reference (with 3 MPH), I was at 9905.27hz, 0.43*KR, and 164kPa(9.08PSI) with a max KR of 3.33* for the entire log. It should be mentioned that it was a 7.2*F difference in the IAT and 3.6*F in difference in ECT between the 2 logs, the cooler log being with the ported TB. Also, fuel trims were a lot better with the second log, so that may have helped with the KR.
So at the same RPM, that's an increase of 6 KPA (0.88PSI) and a 258.3hz increase from the throttle body. If I compare the highest MAF and kPa readings of the entire logs, there is a 331hz difference and a 1 PSI difference before and after. Problem with comparing those readings is that new setup was 125 RPM higher at that point in the log.
I have some fine tuning to do, don't get me wrong, but for a straight swap I can feel a pretty noticeable difference. After I get the fueling in line I'm better I can throw some more timing at it. That'll come later on though...pics!!!!!
Oh, and I was almost down to the last straw on my car, so I had to go get more!
OhX2, headlights are ripped apart, replacing the halos with the switchbacks finally. I'll have pics of that later.
