2000 GTP: Still Alive! New Trans?

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Cool cool, he was saying 150 for his quotes. We'll see how that goes, lol. One thing I'm curious about is that this input shaft doesn't look like the other 300Ms I've seen. This is actually the transmission from Smut's old turbo car.

I'll send that pic to Dave in the morning and see what he says, what do you think?

Here's mine:

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Oh cool, looks the same to me then. What brand is it? I have a ZZP 300M sitting over at my mother-in-law's and I'm wondering if I should swap it out. I'll probably be that far into it so it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Can't say for sure what brand it is. I got it used. I assume it's a ZZP shaft. It still has the discoloration from heat treat on the splines. The one I got from TEP had no discoloration.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Well I transferred the money for the transmission today, we'll be doing shipping later. He got a quote from Fastenal and it was $150, but they have to put it on a pallet so who knows that that will cost. After discussing it with a few different people, I'm thinking there is a good possibility that the trans is good. He lost power at 1\4 throttle, fluid still looks good (according to him, pics haven't come in yet), and he had busted axles when he pulled it. EIther way I'll dig into it a little to check everything out.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Lucky dog! Think I'm going to have to grab an NA trans since there aren't any 04+ GTP's in the JY.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

The guy had that car a week then it got a mystery knock, trans issues then it got totaled

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Never heard anything about the knock, but I have high hopes on the transmission being okay. I'm prepared to put money into it, but it'd be pretty awesome if I didn't have to.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Well transmission is paid for, $910 after shipped and all. Should be shipped next week. We can start holding group prayers about it being completely fine anytime.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Decided to put the spoiler on to see how I liked it and what not. Turned out pretty good. Not what I expected, but it's growing on me. Hard to get a pic of the spoiler and hood at the same time, but they really accent each other. I like the white on black theme.

Also cleaned up the shed in excitement for the transmission. This thing has been clean like this since the last time I built a transmission...about 2 years ago. Dropped off literally 18 gallons of oil oil to Oreillys, and have about 6 more to take now. I still have a lot of cleaning and sorting to do, but this is a giant leap in the right direction.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Stand up on that jungle gym you got back there and I bet you can get a pic of the hood and trunk...

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Nice. I'm not big on the colour scheme, but it works. I do love dat spoiler, no matter what colour.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

You think I should go all white? My mind can always change lol. IDJ Photoshop'd an all white version a while back and it just looked bland to me.

I dunno. All white is a bit much. I'm just not a 2-tone fan for some reason. But what do I know, I drive an all silver GP with a black and a purple mirror. LOL

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

I still favor the paint scheme thats black from the belt moldings up. Spoiler looks good from here. Shed and family envy both.

Re: 2000 GTP: I Can Jump Myself!

Still waiting on the transmission, shipping has been a snafu to say the least. I did get the TB today and man o man am I a happy camper this thing is AWESOME. Jeff is the man, yet again. My only regret is that when I put it on the car you won't see the work, lol. Pictures don't do it justice, but DAMN!

I'm also starting over on the tune. I'll be using DHP 1.5 and a base this time. This will all happen next weekend or the weekend after depending on if I work Saturday next week. I need the car during the week and I want to give 2 full days to do the install and tune. Tune being 90% of that, naturally.
